“Scenes from late Winter/early Spring 2013”.................................2/25/2013
Winter always seems SO long, and this one was no exception! We had a fair amount of snow, and even a blizzard in February!! This dumped over 2 feet of snow on the farm.
So I survived “The Blizzard of 78”, and now “The Blizzard of 2013”. Turns out owning a farm after a blizzard is a whole LOT more work, than the pathway & drive-way I had to shovel in my family home in Medford Mass!!
We also had numerous farm visits over the Winter, which was wonderful. There seems to be such a renewed interest in Alpacas, the life-style, and farming in general.
We will not be attending any Spring shows this season. Staying put to get some much needed work done on the old farmhouse!!
April shearing will be here, again, before we know it!! Seems like just yesterday that everyone “got naked”! More FINE fleeces to sell.
Our 3 amazing Herdsires, Wolverine, TGF Drifter, and Quarry Ridge Kaptain Karma, will be returning, at some point, from their Winter vacations in NJ and CT! Please consider them for your girls. Also added to this impressive line up, we’ve a FINE Drifter son, Dakota! He’s actually sold, but we’ve 3 retained breedings we can sell!!
After taking 2012 off from having cria we are expecting 5 new “little bundles of joy” in June! And one in August who is a boarder here!! Oh boy, or should I say Oh GIRL, hopefully!!
There will be 2 from our amazing Herdsire & Legacy Gold son, TGF Drifter. And then we’ve 3 bred to two outstanding Tripping Gnome Farm Herdsires, Snowmass Royal Challenger, and a Challenger son, TGF Royal Tribute! Tribute was the 2011 NAAS Fawn Champion. All these cria should be spectacular!!
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
As a part of this retirement process we have dramatically lowered the pricing on all of our FINE Alpacas so have a look!
Happy SPRING! Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!
Pictures are of, our pond (with a red heart) at sunset, “snow pacas”, winter sunset, a FULL MOON, another sunset, another “snow paca”, new barn with snow, & a snowy night!! Enjoy.

“Scenes from late Summer/ early Fall 2012”.................................10/10/2012
So we had an AMAZING Summer! It flew by as all of our Maine summers seem to do.
Family cruise to Canada, beaching it in Westport Mass., and a week in a log cabin on a lovely lake in NH! Good times!
We had NO cria this summer which was weird! I did miss seeing new babies frolicking! But I got to see all of my friends babies on Face Book which was wonderful!
We also had numerous farm visits over the Summer and Fall which was wonderful. There seems to be such a renewed interest in Alpacas and farming in general.
We attended no Fall shows this season. Stayed put on the farm to get some projects done! I missed seeing all our friends though!
So after 10 years in the Alpaca business, we have decided to begin the process of retiring from it in 2014! Was a difficult decision but we feel the time is right for us.
This amazing journey has brought us many new friends, and some wonderful memories! A journey I would not have missed for the world!
Onto the next adventure, whatever that is?
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
As a part of this retirement process we have dramatically lowered the pricing on all of our FINE Alpacas so have a look!
Happy FALL! Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!
Pictures are of, the farm, as scene from our neighbor’s farm, in Summer and Fall, Fall grazing, an Alpaca and flowers, farm and pretty clouds, and a farm sunset!

“Scenes from the Late Winter/Early Spring Moon”.................................3/16/2012
Wow. Can you say “mild winter”? It sure was. Warmer than normal temps for Maine, and not much snow at all. The Alpacas as well as Mike and I enjoyed it.
We were able to x/c ski just a handful of times. But our pond froze perfectly smooth. So Michael and I, and many of our neighbors and friends enjoyed bonfires and ice skating parties down there. Good old fashioned Maine winter fun was had by all!
We also had numerous farm visits over the winter which was wonderful. There seems to be such a renewed interest in Alpacas and farming in general. Several Alpacas have headed to their new homes.
To return to a May/June birthing season from the September schedule we were on, we held everyone this winter. Will be a bit sad to have no new cria arriving, but “happy dance” to several vacations we’re taking. In June a cruise to Canada with family, July a beach cottage in Westport Mass., and in September a lake house in New Hampshire!!
Two herdsire changes. First we sold our beloved GreyBeard to a farm in Texas. He was one of our original purchases. We did well by him, and he leaves behind on the farm, several stunning daughters, and an EXACT replica of himself, GreyBeard’s Dark Knight.
Secondly we’ve added a new Herdsire, Quarry Ridge Kaptain Karma. Karma is a gorgeous Dark Fawn son of Archangel’s Malachi. His grandfathers are CCNF Archangel as well as Magical Farms Jericho. With a little Bueno, Dakotia, Don Julio, Bolivar, Vengador, 4Peruvian Legacy and Snowmass Legacy Gold in the genetic mix. Hope to get him working late summer. Introductory stud fee $750.
In addition to Karma we are also offering a $750 introductory stud fee on 3 more outstanding Jr. herdsires. Drifter’s Dark Brown son, Dakota, GreyBeard’s “Modern” Dark Silver Gray son, Dark Knight, and Neruda’s Maroon son, Denali!!
Wolverine and TGF Drifter continue to stamp out spectacular cria in ALL colors, including GRAY! Several offspring are headed to NAAS, as well as Futurity, for which we’ve nominated both. One Drifter daughter is headed to the MAPACA auction. Their stud fee remains at $1500.
We are doing just one show this Spring. The NORTH AMERICAN ALPACA SHOW in Springfield Mass. March 30th thru April 1st. We are bringing our 3 awesome Jr. herdsires. Dakota, Dark Knight, and Kaptain Karma. They are sons of our Drifter, GreyBeard, and Archangel’s Malachi.
Show info, www.naalpacashow.com/NAAS
Always hoping to meet some new FACE BOOK friends, as well as seeing old friends again at these shows!
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
Happy SPRING. Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!

““Scenes from the Late Fall/Early Winter Moon””.................................10/26/2011
Well this Summer flew by, as usual. Maine Summers are awesome but always seem so short. Just 3 wicked hot days, and then gorgeous days of 75-80 daytime, with a cool off to 50’s-60’s at night. Perfect weather to raise Alpacas up here!!
It was a GREAT one. We completed the edition of a 3rd barn to the property. Painted it “Barn Red”, along with a 2nd barn. Have always wanted red barns. They were all tan previously.
Snowmass Royal Rose thoroughly enjoyed his “Maine Vacation” in the “Rock Stars Suite” and so did our Wolverine and Drifter !! They all got along fabulously.
I wonder who will be the next “Rock Star” to stand Stud in the “Rock Stars Suite” for 2012?
We also had numerous farm visits over the summer, which was exciting. So a few more of our beautiful alpacas will be leaving soon, to head to their new homes! We will miss them.
Our farm was a featured farm in the September issue of The Lewiston/Auburn Magazine. They came and interviewed me for the piece. A photographer came and took some fabulous pictures of the farm and our Alpacas. The piece was wonderfully written. A link to their site, http://www.la-mag.com
Personally Mike and I enjoyed another summer of, biking, hiking, walking, kayaking, beach going, and lake going. All the reasons we truly feel blessed to reside in Maine.
We are adding a new Jr. Herdsire to our “Super Stud” line-up. Stay tuned for details, which will soon be announced on our website. VERY excited about this young male!!
We’ve made the decision to hold everyone this year, and not breed, to get them back on a late spring/early summer schedule in 2013!!
After a challenging few years, job wise, for Mike, he is thrilled and LOVING his new position, as an I.T. Project Manager for L.L. Bean. And I am LOVING the employee discount. Think I know what everyone will get for Christmas!!
And the crop of 2011 cria. One word….WOW! Just five, two boys and three girls. ALL stunning. A Medium Brown Snowmass Royal Challenger female. A True Black Full Peruvian Wolverine female. And from our TGF Drifter, three amazing cria. A Light Fawn male, a Medium Brown female, and a “Modern” Rose Gray male. Born on Nine Eleven we have named him, Drifter’s 1st Responder!!
We are doing three shows this Fall. The Big E in Springfield Mass September 29th thru October 2nd , the The Green Mt. Alpaca Fall Spectacular Show in Essex Junction Vermont October 14th thru 16th , and the New England Alpaca Classic Show in Worcester Mass November 12 thru 13th. Have 2 outstanding young males to show. Drifter’s Dark Brown boy, Dakota, and a “MODERN” DSG, FULL PERUVIAN GreyBeard son, Dark Knight. Both are MOST promising Future Junior Herdsires.
Hoping to meet some of our FACE BOOK friends at both these shows.
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
Happy Fall. Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!
Pictures are of, a mom and cria bonding, our Dublin on haying day, Snowmass Royal Rose, our 9/11 born “Modern” Rose Gray boy Drifter’s 1st Responder, new 3rd barn and fencing, rainbow grazing with a FULL MOON, Wolverine and Drifter, the farm at sunset.

“Scenes from the Late Winter/Early Spring Moon”.................................3/01/2011
Well now “OLE MAN WINTER” was VERY active this year in “My Maine”. LOTS of beautiful snow. Cross-Country skiing (one of my other passions past alpacas) was awesome. Made for a few nice snow men as well.
Like a “fine ballet”, Mike and I have developed a system of, working well together, to remove the snow. Typically each storm takes us about an hour and a ½ to get it all cleaned up. Of course his “toy”, Mr. Johnny Deere, gets some credit too. And he only got his “toy” stuck once all Winter!!
We also had numerous farm visits over the winter, which was exciting. So a few more of our beautiful alpacas will be leaving soon, to head to their new homes!. Will miss them.
This Winter we did a LOT of painting inside the old farmhouse. Every old door (never realized just how many there are), front foyer, back hall, and the, new and improved “Lodge”. Will make a wonderful guest suite for family, friends, and out of state clients, coming to see the alpaca they may have recently purchased.
And just as soon as the snow melts will paint the new “Rock Stars Suite”,( aka our new 3rd barn), Barn Red, and begin fencing in two more lush pasture areas.
1st “Rock Star” to Stand Stud, here in Vacationland, June thru Fall 2011, is the one and only, SNOWMASS ROYAL ROSE !! Stud Fee 2K. Sire to MANY Champions, including, Snowmass Royal Challenger, Snowmass XXXtreme, & CCNF Ring of Fire.
So yes there will be a ROSE on the MOON !! And after Rosie who knows who may be next ????
And our own “Rock Stars”, Wolverine and TGF Drifter, will also be standing stud in the new “Suite”!! Stud fees remain at $1500.
We are doing just one Spring Show, and this will be, The North American Alpaca Show in Springfield Mass April 1-3 2011. Just have one gorgeous True-Black, Full Peruvian, Wolverine daughter we will be showing.
Hoping to meet some of our FACE BOOK friends there.
Our AWESOME 2010 cria, born late summer/early fall, won’t be ready to show until the Fall. Not enough time to wean, and halter train them properly. Don’t like to wean too young just to get them to a show. And I like an entire month of training (and not on ice & snow) to minimize their stress.
Our 2011 Shearing Day is Monday April 25th. Call or email if you’d like to help out and be a part of it !! Will also, once again, have some beautiful fleeces for sale !!
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
New pictures are of …Stuck tractor, Lucia in her new red coat, neighbor’s horses at sunset, view of our farm from neighbors’s farm, new barn, a snowy night, a winter sunrise, & a winter sunset! Enjoy them.
Happy Spring. Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!

“Scenes from the Late Summer/Fall Moon”.................................9/20/2010
Wow what a summer we had. Just gorgeous weather. A little dry though and our pastures could have definately used more rain, so it’ll be slim pickings into Fall for grazing. I’ll have to break this news soon to our very spoiled Alpacas!
We also had SO many farm visits this summer, from both existing breeders, as well as new folks interested in Alpaca ownership one day. For this we are VERY thankful.
We’re SO excited to announce that SNOWMASS ROYAL ROSE will be standing stud here Spring thru Fall of 2011! Rose is the Sire to MANY Champions including, Snowmass Royal Challenger, CCNF Ring of Fire, and Snowmass XXXtreme to name a few. Offering a special drive-by (bring the girl to us) Stud fee of 2K (normal fee is $3500).
So in anticipation of his arrival, we are fencing in a new area, and building a new barn. A barn I now refer to as “The Rock Stars Suite”! This barn will be used for future visiting Herdsires who would like to “vacation” in Maine in Summer. I wonder who the next “Rock Star” will be? Stay tuned.
We will not be attending any Fall 2010 shows as we were fortunate enough to have sold ½ of our “show string” this Summer. But look for us next Spring to be showing our new crop of magnificent 2010 cria!
We had 6 new cria born this year, 3 AWESOME males, a Maroon NERUDA son, a Full Peruvian, True-Black GREYBEARD son, a Dark Fawn AG SPACE COWBOY son, and 3 gorgeous cria (1st ones) from our Snowmass Legacy Gold son, TGF Drifter. A Medium Fawn female, and 2 Dark Browns, a Female and a Male.
Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page for, “TOP QUALITY GENETICS AT AFFORDABLE PRICING”.
Our Herdsires continue to amaze us. WOLVERINE’S cria are quite stunning. Fine, dense, crimpy fleeces, typey heads, and outstanding conformation. And he consistently throws the color of the dam, from White, to Fawn, to Brown, to Maroon, to True-Black, and even to GRAY!!
DRIFTER’S cria are also quite stunning. VERY dense, shiny, and crimpy fleeces. We are excited at the quality of his offspring, in an assortment of colors, from Medium Fawn, to Dark Brown, to a Rose GRAY!!
And GREYBEARD continues to keep stamping out awesome cria in ALL colors. Their perfect conformations, density, fineness, crimp, and that unbelievable staple length, for which he is known for.
And soon enough our lovely, and lush green pastures will fade. But they’ll be surrounded by our beautiful, and colorful Maine Fall foliage!! And our very “COLORFUL” herd will look amazing against this backdrop!
New pictures are of our beautiful Alpacas and our pastures. Enjoy them.
Happy Fall. Please call or email and come for a visit SOON to the MOON !!

“Scenes From The Spring/Summer Moon”.................................3/08/2010
2009/2010 was the “Maine Winter” we never had ! Not much snow and warmer than normal temps were what we experienced for the first time since moving up here. And this August 13th will be 5 years for us living on our beautiful farm.
So with no real winter, and no snow to melt, hopefully, the 5th season (MUD) will be a lot less severe? Pretty please Mr. Mud Season !!
2009 was a year of down sizing for us due to Mike’s job loss in June. Proctor and Gamble sent his job offshore to Costa Rica. But in March of 2010 he was able to secure a new job with CSC (Computer Science Corp), working as a Project Manager inside BIW (Bath Iron Works) in Bath Maine.
So, for now, the farm is saved, and we move forward ! Will decide when/if we sell our farm, not Corporate America, thank you very much.
Our herd is a bit smaller, but still quite a nice one we think. And with 6 cria due this year we will still have some beautiful animals for sale, at very ATTRACTIVE pricing ! Check out our “Alpacas For Sale” page.
Our Herdsires continue to amaze us. GREYBEARD keeps on stamping out awesome cria in ALL colors !! Their perfect conformations, density, fineness, crimp, and that unbelievable staple length, for which he is known for. WOLVERINE’S cria are also quite stunning. 7 so far, and ALL 7 times he’s thrown the color of the dam from, White, to Fawn, to Red Maroon, to True-Black. Sweet!! His cria have all of the same wonderful attributes that the GreyBeard offspring do. And we eagerly await the 1st offspring of our Snowmass Legacy Gold / El Nino cross male, DRIFTER. These arrive Summer 2010 and should be really nice as well.
Weaning, Halter Training, and then Shearing are also right on our door step once again. Seems to come so fast each year. We had 6 cria in 2009, but two are at their new co-owners, so I have just 4 to halter train.
We will do one Spring show, and that will be the new “Northeast Alpaca Expo” show in Syracuse May 1st and 2nd. We will be showing our White Wolverine male, CHILLER, Wolverine’s Full Peruvian True-Black daughter, CHIME, as well as our Red Maroon (Medium Brown) GreyBeard son, CRIMSON KING. Very excited to be able to return to doing at least one show !
Come by and visit us on July 25th from 10am to 3pm when our farm is a host farm for “The Get Real Maine” Open Farm Day !
And soon enough our beautiful Spring and Summer pastures will be that wonderful GREEN again. The Alpacas will be out grazing, and new cria will be arriving. Ah, “LIFE IS GOOD”, as they say. But I say “GREAT” is way more like it !!
New pictures are of our lovely pond, our neighbors farm & pretty clouds, our farm’s pasture & house from the road, and our awesome Red Maroon, GreyBeard son, Crimson King, chilling in the pasture !
Happy 2010 everyone. Please call or email and come for a visit to the MOON.

“Scenes From The Summer/Early Fall Moon”..........9/14/09
Ah Summer in Maine. Such a magical time of green pastures (we had a LOT of rain early on), crias arriving, and then crias pronking with a back drop of beautiful sunsets. Life is good as they say.
And with a bit of a smaller herd now Mike and I even managed to sneak in some fun times. From swimming, to bike riding, to kayaking, and boating on Sebago Lake. Good times for the Summer of 09.
Now it’s back to work to begin all of the rebreedings, followed by all of the spit testing to confirm pregnancies. We’ve done it this way past several years with 100% accuracy.
And here’s to a perfect birthing season with not one issue. Yay! Count is 4 boys and 2 girls. One Beige Principio male, two Beige Wolverine males, one True Black GreyBeard female, one Red Maroon GreyBeard son (1st ever male out of our Primavera, who’d had 6 girls), and one True Black Full Peruvian Wolverine female.
We’re so excited at the quality of ALL of the Wolverine cria. Beautiful animals in a variety of colors. From Beige, to Fawn, to Brown, to True Black. Seems to be throwing the color of the dam. All look to be show quality so we’re very excited. And he’s got a new co-owner, New England Alpacas in CT.
Also born this year, out of Wolverine, to our friends over at Hidden Gem Farm in Hebron Maine, were two more females, a beautiful True Black, and a Medium Fawn.
We still have some nice 2008 cria for sale. Please take a moment and visit our “Herd & Cria” page.
We will not be attending the 2009 Fall shows with animals, due to Mike’s intense job search and interviewing. He really needs to concentrate on this and will possibly be off the farm more. We may however show up at one or two as I SO miss doing them.
Our co-owners (Coventry Falls Alpacas) of our other Red Maroon male, Zambezi’s Beringer, will be taking/showing him at The Big E, as well as The Green Mt. Alpaca Fall Spectacular shows.
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
And due to Mike’s job loss and our immediate need to down size we have some really attractive new pricing for our beautiful alpacas. Please take a look on our, Alpacas For Sale Page, soon as they are going quickly.
It’s also a very good time to consider investing in alpacas. From the healthy life style in running and operating a farm, to the many rewards and benefits in working daily with these wonderful animals.
Please also visit our new “Gallery” page for more of my original photography. And our “Farm Store” page has some beautiful new yarns available for purchase.
Images below are of, our 1st Wolverine son, Chiller, our neighbor’s barn, some very different clouds & alpacas, a sunset in Westport Mass, and a sunset on Sebago Lake Maine.
And then 3 images from our haying day (in 90 degree heat), bales of hay in the pasture (all 250 waiting to be collected), General Buford, and me learning to drive the big tractor for my very first time. I did it without incident. Whew!
Take care and hope to see you soon on the Moon!
Darlene & Michael Reardon
“Scenes From The Spring/Summer Moon” ....May 21, 2009
Old Man Winter is finally gone. It was so beautiful after each storm, the winter skies magical, and the cross county skiing fantastic, but ever so LONG it seemed at times.
And now it’s Spring and the pastures are coming in beautifully. All the alpacas have been shorn and are out doing their favorite thing, grazing and pronking. I think they too were all happy to see all of the snow finally melt.
And right on the heels of Spring will come our beautiful Maine summer and the kick off of birthing season running from June thru September this year. Praying for Pink.
All the 2008 cria are looking great and doing well. Please visit them on our Herd & Cria page.
“Tres Farm Yarns” (our collaboration with Tripping Gnome Farm and White Barn Meadows) will once again be a vendor for The Fiber Frolic, held in Windsor Maine on June 6th and & 7th. 2009. Visit www.fiberfrolic for complete details.
Spring shows went well with TGF Drifter (our Snowmass Legacy Gold son) bringing home a few more blue and red ribbons. Way to go Drifter. Hope to get him working late Summer. GreyBeard’s Black Angus took a 4th in a huge black class at NAAS. Nice job.
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
And due to Mike’s job loss and our immediate need to down size we have some really attractive new pricing for our beautiful alpacas. Please take a look on our, Alpacas For Sale Page, soon as they are going quickly.

Take care and hope to see you soon on the Moon!

“Scenes From The Winter Moon”
Well “Old Man Winter” hasn’t yet been too harsh on us. We did have one snowfall of well over a foot and a half, but the rest of the storms so far have been minor ones; of course now that I’ve written this we will be slammed when the next storm arrives.
Life here on the moon has been quiet and un-eventful, and all new cria are doing wonderfully and growing up quickly. Please visit them on our Herd & Cria page.
Michael and I even managed to sneak away for a few days to Florida. This was a much needed and welcomed vacation after all of the past years work in getting our farm up and running.
“Tres Farm Yarns” (our collaboration with Tripping Gnome Farm and White Barn Meadows) will once again be a vendor for “The NETA Spa Knit and Spin”, held in Freeport Maine on February 27th thru March 1st 2009.
Then soon after this venue we will once again be thrust into selecting and halter training for the spring show season, so we’re enjoying this time of peace and winter beauty.
Please take a moment and visit our News & Events page with complete dates and details for the Spa, as well as the spring shows we will be attending.
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
Take a look at our current sales list on our ‘Alpacas For Sale’ page.
We have a nice selection of Bred Females, Maidens, and Fiber Males available, at competitive pricing.
It’s also a very good time to consider investing in alpacas, from the healthy life style in running and operating a farm, to the many rewards and benefits in working daily with these wonderful animals.
Please also visit our new “Gallery” page for more of my original photography. And our “Farm Store” page has some beautiful new yarns available for purchase.
Images below, for a change, are not of snow, and even of alpacas (except for our mini alpaca), but of tropical sunsets, birds, beaches, and of course FULL MOONS!
Makes one wonder, when you board a plane and it’s 75 and sunny, and one lands, and it’s minus 4 and snowy, just how would The Full Moon Alpacas do in Florida???
Take care and stay warm. Happy 2009!!

“Scenes From The Late Summer/Early Fall Moon”
Dare I say that yet another Maine summer has ever so quickly come, and is almost gone? It’s sad but true. Seems they just go by so quickly here in the North East. But we’ve still our beautiful and colorful Fall to experience before Old Man Winter descends upon us yet again.
It's been a great summer of birthing our new "criations" (babies). We have been blessed with nine strong and healthy cria for our 2008 herd additions. See our Herd & Cria page for birth dates and pictures.
So four females and five males now call Full Moon Alpacas their home. Including our own Wolverine's first Fawn female offspring, a True-Black Neruda male, a Fawn CPeruvian Silvio Grand-son, a Reddish-Maroon Canzelle's Zambezi male (and our 1st GreyBeard Grandson), our own Christian Gold's 1st Dark-Brown male (an Altiplano Gold Grand-son), rounded off by three beautiful new GreyBeard daughters (a Taupe-Fawn, a Light-Fawn, and a Bay-Black), and one Dark-Brown GreyBeard son.
Please take a moment and visit our News & Events page with complete dates and details for our next Open Farm Days, as well as all of the Fall shows we will be attending.
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
Take a look at our current sales list now exclusively listed on, www.alpacanation.com.
There are some very fine alpacas for sale at wonderful prices.
Please also visit our new “Gallery” page for more of my original photography. And our “Farm Store” page has some beautiful yarns on sale.
Some new farm images to enjoy. Wolverine’s Blaze the evening of an amazing fiery red sunset, “The Fantastic Four” as I call them (as they all arrived on the 13th and 14th of June), a hot air balloon soaring over the farm (during the Great Falls Balloon Festival), two new cria headed out to pasture, a close-up of two new cria, and a shot of some very happy new moms and babies in the barn.
Take care and happy fall show season.
Darlene & Michael Reardon

“Scenes From The Spring/Summer Moon”
Ah, “Spring has Sprung”, as they say; pastures are super green, lush, and plentiful, for all of our spoiled alpacas, and gone rather quickly I must say, are our over 100 inches of snowfall for the 07/08 winter season.
Spring shows went well, especially Mapaca. GreyBeard’s Black Angus, as well as GreyBeard’s Auburn Jewel, each took a 3rd place in tough classes.
Our newly acquired (thank you Tripping Gnome Farm) TGF Drifter, a Snowmass Legacy Gold son, took a Blue Ribbon and The FAWN MALE COLOR CHAMPIONSHIP, at just 7 months old! Stay tuned for more news of this amazing young male.
We also purchased a beautiful dark silver grey young female (as a future date for Drifter), Whispering Winds Smoldering Skye, from our friends at Whispering Winds Alpacas in New Hampshire. Skye took a Blue at NAAS, and a 2nd at Mapaca. Go Skye.
Spring right on thru Fall will be “new cria” busy for us, 3 due end of May, 1 in June (our own Wolverine’s 1st), 2 in July (one our long-awaited and much anticipated) breeding to Neruda to our Full Peruvian, True-Black, GreyBeard’s Black Jewel, 2 in September, and finally the last one in October.
Lots of events going on as well.
• May 25th from 10am-4pm at the Annual Spring Open House at Long Plains Alpacas in Buxton Maine. Visit www.longplainsalpacas.com for info on the events, Fiber Arts, Pen Sale, Speakers, and more.
• Tres Farm Yarns (our joint collaboration with Tripping Gnome Farm, and White Barn Meadows) will be a vendor at The Fiber Frolic in Windsor Maine on June 7th and 8th.
Visit www.fiberfrolic.com for further info and directions.
• On June 21st we’re hosting an Alpaca 101/102 seminar with Melissa and Lou Ferrera of New England Alpacas. Visit our “News & Events” page for complete details.
• And finally on July 20th from 10am to 3pm we are a participating farm for, Get Real Maine Open Farm Day. Our barn farm store will be open featuring our new soft and luxurious alpaca yarns, my original photography, and more. Come meet our new babies as well. Visit www.getrealmaine.com/visit/open_farm_day.html for further info.
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
Thank you to Cloud Hollow Farm for their 1/2 interest purchase in GreyBeard’s Black Angus, and to Hidden Gem Alpacas for their purchase of GreyBeard’s Wicked Kareen. Both of these new farms are located here in Maine. Welcome.
Take a look at our current sales list now exclusively listed on, www.alpacanation.com.
We have some really nice alpacas for sale.
Enjoy my new photos of the afore mentioned, Drifter, Skye, the girls out grazing (spot our neighbor’s new 150lbs at birth baby Clydesdale), Barn cat General Buford and a friend, and GreyBeard’s Auburn Jewel who appears to be turning that beautiful reddish-maroon color as her mom is. Love that color. We’re all about color, oh and exquisite fleeces, great bodies, calm temperaments, and great heads, here at Full Moon Alpacas.
Please also visit our new “Gallery” page for more of my original photography. And our “Farm Store” page has some beautiful yarns on sale.
Take care and happy grazing,

“Scenes From The Winter Moon”
Ah winter in New England, and most especially Maine, can be beautiful, but oh so cold and a bit challenging to say the least. But truly the beauty of the winter skies seems to make up for it all.
For us it began in earnest in early December, lots and lots of cold and snow. Snowiest December on record to date they say. The alpacas don’t seem to mind it, but then again they are not the ones doing all of that shoveling. But it gets them out and about, and they do seem to greatly appreciate it.
Our farm was also recently selected as a vendor February 22nd-24th, for the annual Freeport Knit & Spin Fiber Spa. It’s a joint collaboration between our farm, White Barn Meadows Buxton Maine, and Tripping Gnome Farm Freeport Maine. The new venture is aptly title, Tres Farm Yarns.
We are also participating in the Royal River Alpaca Company Second Annual On Farm Pen Sale. This is being held on Saturday March 29th. Royal River is located in North Yarmouth Maine. We will have several alpacas for sale in this event. Please visit, www.royalriveralpaca.com.
Full Moon Alpacas will be attending two alpaca shows in the spring of 2008. And I’ve already begun to halter train our 4 entries. The Last Don’s Apollo, GreyBeard’s A Perfect Storm, GreyBeard’s Black Angus, and our very own special little girl, GreyBeard’s Auburn Jewel. Their calm temperaments produced both by their genetics, as well as the peaceful and calm environment here on the farm, make my job a whole lot easier.
First is The North American Alpaca Show April 3rd-6th in Springfield Mass at The Eastern States Exposition Center. Please visit, www.naalpacashow.com for further info.
Second is MAPACA Alpaca Show April 24th-27th in Harrisburg Pennsylvania held at, The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Please visit, www.mapaca.org/jubilee for further info.
Will also be doing the Annual Spring Open House Event at Long Plains Alpacas on Sunday May 25th from 10a-4p. Long Plains Alpacas is located in Buxton Maine. There will be Fiber Arts, a Pen Sale, Speakers, and much more. Please visit, www.longplainsalpacas.com
Wolverine began working last summer, and we eagerly await the arrival of his first three cria.
Last summer we also finished our on-site farm store, which features natural colored yarns, and some beautiful dyed merino wool/alpaca blends, all from the fleeces of our fabulous alpacas. Also featuring some original designs, as well as my line of original photography (sold and packaged as blank greeting cards.)
Per usual we welcome your phone calls, emails, and farm visits.
Take a look at our current sales list now exclusively listed on, www.alpacanation.com. We now have some really nice alpacas for sale.
And since the skies were so magnificent I decided to post a few (sans alpacas this time), except for our own Stormy, who seems to be asking, “is it spring yet” in this shot. And I answer, “yes soon enough our green pastures will return, but then our beautiful winter skies and snow will all just disappear”. Enjoy.
Take care,
Darlene & Michael Reardon

“Scenes From The Late Summer/Early Fall Moon”
From fiery sunsets, rainbows, pink clouds, new babies, and a few tranquil evenings spent down at our pond, it’s been an exciting and busy summer on the farm.
We were very lucky to have four beautiful and healthy babies born on the farm. Three males, and one beautiful female. Three from GreyBeard, and one male, from The Last Don. Pictures of all of them can be seen on the, "Foundation Herd & New Cria" page.
Wolverine also began working this summer, and we are very excited about his future cria arriving early next year.
On September 29th & 30th, from 10am to 4pm, we will be participating in the first annual, “National Alpaca Farm Day”. Visit www.nationalalpacafarmday.com, for further info. This is an AOBA (Alpaca Owners & Breeders Association) sponsored event.
Full Moon Alpacas will be at the “New England Coastal Classic” Alpaca show on October 13th & 14th, held at the Pineland Equestrian, New Gloucester Maine. Please visit, www.necoastalclassic.com, for further info.
This summer we also finished our on-site farm store, which features natural colored yarns from our beautiful alpacas.
Our Farm was also recently selected as a vendor in February of 2008, for the annual, Freeport Knit & Spin Fiber Spa. It’s a joint collaboration between our farm, White Barn Meadows, and Tripping Gnome Farm. This new venture is aptly titled, Tres Farm Yarns.

“Scenes From The Spring Moon”
Spring has certainly sprung, as they say. And isn’t it a truly glorious time of the “alpaca” year?? Show season is over, and we turn our full attention to getting everyone out of their winter coats (aka being shorn) and being able to enjoy a pleasant spring out grazing to their heart’s content.
We were not able, as planned, to attend Nationals this year, but we did enter our Wolverine’s fleece, and he received a BLUE RIBBON!! Very exciting. He’s a handsome fellow for sure, and hopefully soon to be a “working” fellow. If you know what I mean?
Christian Gold (our true-black 4Peruvian Altiplano Gold son) has returned from being boarded off the farm for the winter. I’ve included a new picture of him, in full fleece, as he is looking pretty nice indeed, and we look forward to his 1st offspring this September.
We are expecting 5 new cria this year. One from The Last Don, Christian Gold, and 3 new GreyBeard babies. Our farm is growing slowly, but surely.
Take a look at our current sales list now exclusively listed on Alpacanation.com.
Our new web-site has also been launched, at www.fullmoonalpacas.com. Take a quick peak and drop us a note to say what you think. Also, our email address has changed and is now, fullmoonalpacas@roadrunner.com.
Our farm store is still being constructed, so I will be doing The Fiber Frolic, here in Maine, to sell some of our beautiful raw fleeces, roving and fine yarns. Hope to see some of you there.
So stop on by for a farm visit soon, and I promise I’ll have a pitcher of fresh-squeezed lemonade, a bowl of cherries, and a platter of Skinny Cows ready for you!! And if you do not know what Skinny Cows are, you’ll have to come on by and find out.
Enjoy the new farm scenes.
Take care,
Darlene & Michael Reardon

Well it’s been one month since the BIG Valentine’s Day blizzard we experienced here in Maine this winter. Good old Mother Nature dumped about 18 inches of the powdery stuff on us, just as we were thinking that the winter had been a pretty easy one. But it’s Maine, it’s winter, and it sure was pretty. And there’s something magical about seeing your cria bounce about discovering their first taste of snow. Makes your heart and spirits soar.
Mike and I have survived, and made out just fine, during this our first Maine winter and tending to all of our critters. The alpacas, bunnies, barn cats and Muscovy ducks. Despite a few challenges, water freezing in the barn early on, poop pile being perhaps just a bit too far away, etc, it’s just about coming to an end. At least we think so?
So we’ve turned our focus to halter training our two new GreyBeard daughters, as well as refresher courses for our “champs” on the lead, Wolverine and Carnelian.
I will, once again, be going solo to the shows, so my Vice President, Ranch Manager, and Farm Hand, my wonderful Husband Michael, can tend to the farm. Look for me/us at, The North American Alpaca Show, MAPACA, and at the Nationals in Kentucky.
Today as I write this, there is a feeling of SPRING, in the air. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the temperatures are well into the 40’s, and approaching near 50 by tomorrow. Yeah!
Enjoy these new “blizzard” pictures. And hopefully, the next time I update this, I will have some new pictures of all of our beautiful pastures coming in, preparing for the next batch of the wonderful forage we’ve thus far been able to produce here on the farm.
So we’re gearing up all life on the farm for the busy Spring ahead. Getting the barn cats ready to mouse, the Muscovys ready to insect control, and our alpacas ready, once again, to begin to graze on our lush pastures.
Stay warm and see you all at the up-coming Spring shows.

December 23, 2006
Finally our Alpacas have arrived!! And of course, ever so fitting for our farm’s name, the first 5 to arrive on November 5th 2006, did so by the light of a Full Moom! The moment could not have been more perfect. Then on “lucky” November 13th, the other 11 also arrived safely on the farm. All seem happy and content in their new home. And if they only knew the amount of dedication and hard work it took to properly prepare the old farmstead for them, I know they’d be most appreciative.
Our work began in earnest in May of this year, and didn’t end until literally our alpacas we’re being un-loaded from the trailer that morning. To sum up what we worked on from sun up to sun down is the following…Removed all old fencing. Moved tons of dirt/fill to level off and provide drainage for the dry lot areas. Cleaned out the 3-story “girls” barn. (removing horse corrals and re-working the area for alpacas). Added another ½ to the existing 3 sided goat barn for the new “boys” barn. Both barns, new and old, each were given large over-hangs. Installed 5 ft. high no-climb fencing, creating 3 separate pasture areas (about 3 acres).
So finally on November 14th we rested. Well that is after we did our morning mucking and feeding. But we both couldn’t be more happy to have them all finally here on our farm. We have our true black Altiplano Gold son, Christian Gold, now working (with an introductory stud fee of just $1000.00), and waiting on our little guy, Wolverine, to hopefully begin working in the Fall of 2007. Look for him still in the show ring in the Spring of 2007. And of course, last but certainly not the least, is the man, Greybeard. Or should I say the Alpaca? He consistently has put out since a high level of off-spring in an array of colors, including blacks, fawns, and grays. He resides still at Chase Tavern Farm (we co-own him with them), so please contact them soon and reserve your Spring breeding today.
We also now have quite a nice selection of “Foundation Herd” females, and look forward to the births, on our farm, of 5 new cria in 2007. Also please check out our new up-dated Sales List. We’ve recently added some outstanding Females for sale. Pictures are of the completed, “Phase One” stage of barns and fencing at Full Moon Alpacas, and of most of our beautiful “multi-colored” herd.
Stay warm and see you all at the Spring shows.

April 8, 2006
Ah the warmer weather of Spring is finally upon us. And with this warm weather comes a whole lot of outside work, here at Full Moon Alpacas.
We have begun demolition of the old chicken coop, and horse riding ring. All standing in the way of the flow of our pastures. Mike won a bid on EBay for a newer John Deere tractor and has been working daily to rip down all of the old un-wanted structures.
Soon will have a huge dumpster brought in, and discard all of the old stuff, which we’ve ripped out of the house over the Winter. It’s truly amazing how quickly one can fill several of the horse corrals inside the old barn.
Check out the demolition photos, Mike’s new “TOY”. Also I think some baby Alpacas have already arrived!
So calling all Fencing enthusiasts. Fencing Party at some point will be on tap.
Will work really really hard all Spring and early Summer, in anticipation of the arrival our Alpacas by mid-Summer. Then the adventure truly begins.
Keep checking back for future farm updates and pictures.
Take care and Happy Spring!!
Darlene and Michael
